Have you noticed a reduction in healthcare quality since the HMO and gatekeeper revolution of the 90's? If not, you either need a closer look, or you haven’t been seriously ill lately. If you are ill you better have established physician-patient relationship with a competent physician – and not all fall into that category – just ask your nurse friends.. :^)

The numbers of physicians may be a bit deceiving. Medicine does not attracting the highest quality of undergraduate students as they once did -- and too many good, established physicians are leaving the profession because they are tired of the BS and paperwork.

Too often the voids are being filled by foreign born physicians (usually family practitioners). Many of these recently graduated physicians serve in rural America to work off obligations to the US government. Sad thing, many of these doctors were on tax-payer scholarships and were allegedly being trained to return to their third-world nations.
