It's clear that the feeling of Americans is ambivalent and closely tied to the current events in iraq.

It should NOT be tied to current events. Those with at least half a mind realize there will be ups and downs. This is why it is important to have a strong leader like Bush rather than a weak one like Kerry. You can't have someone who makes policy based on the politics of the moment, which is clearly what Kerry would be doing.

Bush may have made some mistakes, but his policy has been stable. This has required immeasurable courage, and courage like no president has shown since the Cuban Missle Crisis, IMO.
