OT: I have permission from both the thread moderator and SI Dave to ban posters (at least for now). The real question is why so many posters cannot control themselves. All we have asked is that people be polite, stay on topic and not flood the thread with messages ... standard message board etiquette. Unfortunately many anti-Kerry posters cannot control themselves (I'm sure that applies to some anti-Bush posters too). No matter what happens in November, we must find a way to overcome the enmity that has developed during this campaign (both on SI and in real life). I've never seen anything like this. Very sad.

Carolyn, SI Admin Dave and All: Like many other posters on this thread, I have been very impressed with not only the quality of posts from Calculated Risk but also his civility. I also take pride in admitting that his civility has been superior to mine too. Having said that, I gladly granted to CR, the right to co-host this thread with me while I was away for long weekends in the immediate past. He has done a wonderful job and his actions in my absence fully agreed with me. Hence, he is cohosting this thread with me. The co-hosting only extends to bans and not posting on my behalf in any way whatsoever. Hence the message of who is getting banned is what he sends out under his handle not mine. There are also many other "co-host of sorts" on this thread. They PM me from time to time with requests to ban someone along with the reasons. I have banned those folks after agreeing with the compelling reasons they have provided. CR and I have had disagreements on certain bans and timeouts. But, true to CR's style, he has always allowed me to have the final say. And I am grateful to him for that. Hope it clarifies the matter.
