Hydrogen fuel cars may actually be useful if one could produce and distribute the hydrogen. It takes 6 gallons of gasoline worth of energy to drive a car the same distance as 1 gallon of gasoline in an internal combustion engine. Where's the work on producing the hydrogen??? It'll take nuclear power to generate that kind of energy. Private industry was doing just fine on hydrogen fuel cells without government initiatives. We need research on safe next generation nuclear fission reactors and what we really need is nuclear fusion reactors. There's virtually nothing going on in this country on those technologies. Developing hydrogen fuel cells is putting the cart before the horse. It's just a bunch of hot air.
