I'm still not much for conspiracy theories.

But I DO go in for the theory that politicians manage the timing of the release of information when they can. Bad news is buried on Super Bowl Sunday. Good news is paraded on a slow news day in late midweek, preferably Thursday where it can be the talk of the water cooler on Saturday, can give the Newsweeklies time to get extensive cover story coverage, and where it can get legs and last into the Sunday morning talk show circuit, giving SMTSC enough time to line up and publicize good guests.

That's not a conspiracy. That's just plain good old politics.
