This is true. My kids do this all of the time, with both electrons and photons. But, are these methods commercially viable? Can they ever be? Seems to me Wayne's point stands because of the extant fossil-fuel network in America. Fossil-fuels would have to be the first place we would go for hydrogen extraction. And even that seems hopeless as a means of even getting us moving toward anything like fuel independence.
