yeah,
I'm not going to watch the video....

You cannot negotiate with a terrorist. Unbelievable Sadr is still walking around and Fallujah is still standing....

Never forget what was accomplished at Entebbe...

"I wonder how Russia will respond."

If I were a Chechen, I'd be re-evaluating my residency options. As you are very much aware, the Russians don't have a history of being bound by world opinion.

I admit, it does give credibility to the Russian accusations that Al Qaeda has influence in Chechnya. Who ever planned this clearly doesn't care what actually happens to the Chechens. No doubt they figure that world reaction to what the Russians are about to do will help their cause. They probably sold it as the horror the Russians will feel will cause them to give up because they are weak.

Any calculation that depends on your opponent to not have the will to stand up to your brutality is fundamentally flawed. Sadly, to all too many, it seems as if it should work if tried with enough vigor. Conveniently ignoring that most of the major wars were much more brutal than anything they could do...

re: It is just sickening. I wonder how Russia will respond. This is like their 9/11.

Chances are they will use logic, and attack the perpetrators.

Then again, they could "pull a Bush" and attack some country that had nothing to do with it.

Maybe if the Russian Bush stopped screwing with the Chechens, and let them have their freedom this garbage would stop. Oh wait......I forgot.....Chechnya is oil rich! Such bad luck for the Chechens!

Sound familiar?
