How has the storm affected new construction? Do homebuilders have an insurance that covers homes being built?
I see that HD/LOW and local contractors will somewhat benefit (make extra $$), but homebuilders will not. They are facing delays, increased costs and their best people will switch to repairs.

There were many articles about speculation in FL RE. What if specs decide to sell? Are there enough willing buyers to buy?
Of course the specs may say "it happened this year, then we're safe for a few decades".

EDIT: I have friends here in LA who have invested in FL RE (they've put a deposit on a new house). Now they are not so sure they want it. They didn't like what they saw on TV.

I found an old link to my friend's story: #reply-20180320
