Here's where we are in Iraq. Saddam is gone. The Saddamists are gone. Even Bush has admitted we're an occupying force and that he can understand how Iraqis would oppose an occupier.
We're there to install a puppet government. The Iraqis will never accept a puppet government, unless it's as brutal and repressive as Saddam's was. So, we're fighting to install another brutal and repressive regieme, one WE control. To the Iraqis, it will be even LESS palatable than Saddam. He was at least a patriotic Iraqi.
Every death there is a mistake, a waste and a crime. How should the families of these American soldiers feel? Their soldiers died for oil.

and what message of taunt would rejek tell to their husband and wives; to their sisters and brothers; to their parents.

Their final act on this Earth was to fight a great evil and bring liberty to others. I see that as the clear truth and nothing I could add would make a difference.
