I was hoping to drive to Orlando this afternoon and make a decision Saturday to drive out of state. I have dog, cat, disabled hubbie that can't fly. Do you think this is a bad decision. I'm at 11 ft. and a mile from the Caloosahatchee River and 10 miles from Pine Island Sound.

I stood in line to buy gas cans yesterday afternoon at Lowes and got them filled last night. Most stations had no gas. This should make it possible for us to get to Orlando and up I-75. I truly regret my Lincoln Aviator at this point in time. (NG)

I live in an older CB home and frankly if we are hit, the plywood won't help. I am wrapping things to protect from water and will lock up at hope for the best. I've gone through the house with my digital camera and am sending the visual inventory to my sister in Ct.

Ivan looks like it could go to Tampa or Charlotte Harbor. I have an associate that was in Punta Gorda yesterday, there was much more damage than even we in the area had seen in the media. Garage doors, if they exist are sprayed with the insurance companies name. Trees and debris still everywhere. Tarps have blown off roofs. Double deductibles. It is just horrible. So much for Money Magazines hyped retirement town.

Sanibel looks like giant dinosaurs roamed through eating the tops of the trees. It looks nothing like it used to. I tear up just thinking about it as I type.

For a little on topic, yesterday I went to granite yards selecting slabs with customers who are building here. I do have to wonder how many will rethink their plans however.
