As the wife beater always says, "She made me do it, she just wouldn't shut up."

This isn't equivalent. The communist didn't just refuse to shut up. They invaded another country. Sure historically the country had been united but so had Korea. North Vietnam and North Korea where both aggressors. If East Germany had invaded West Germany, or if China invades Taiwan (or had invaded Hong Kong), or any number of other similar invasions happened, the fact that the aggressor would be trying to unify a country wouldn't stop them from being the aggressor.

And if the North had just accepted what WE wanted, and shut up, we wouldn't have HAD to create a hell

N Vietnam was the invader. The S wanted to remain free.

If the new North had just accepted what Vietnam agreed to in 1954...All would have been avoided.

The Communist domination of the North came after the Geneva agreement. Then they invaded the South.
