Here's proof Zell was telling the truth about Kerry's defense record - from Kerry himself:

Kerry opposed the B2 stealth bomber:
Thursday, April 25, 1991; 137 Cong.Rec. S5067-01:
Simply stated, there are savings that can be made in the defense budget. The administration has requested about $25.5 billion over the next 5 years for the B-2 Stealth bomber. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the total cost of the B-2 program will be $65 billion, or $860 million for each of the 75 planes the Air Force plans on buying. This would make the B-2 the most expensive strategic weapons system ever built. Notwithstanding the budget deficit and the large number of domestic problems confronting this country, the bottom line is that we do not need the B-2.

Proof Kerry opposed the B1 bomber, MX missile, AH-64 helicopter, F15 fighter, Phoenix & Sparrow missilies and others - from his 1984 campaign statement:

Your post about the Democrats and the Democratic party has a mirror situation in the Republican party. During the Republican convention we did not see any of the Pat Robertson's, the neocons, etc. Just middle of the roads Arnold's, Guiliani's etc. those who support woman's right to choose. They did not put up any of those Republicans who oppose illegal immigration, budget deficits etc.

In the next weeks, Kerry is going to focus on budget deficits, legalized immigration etc. There is no racisim in this. We need to expose political opportunism etc.

right, Zell Miller represents mainstream america.

If this were 100 years ago he'd be carrying a burning cross, he's a freak. And the perception of his "speech" or revival or whatever that was at the RNC came across very poorly.

No bounce for Bush, boo hoo.

What charge of racism? ... There was no charge ...

.......... only <dixiecrats who yearn for the south of yesteryear when racism ruled>

You may be a little younger than I am, but I recall beginning with Goldwater's Southern strategy in 1964, a transformation of the "Southern Democrats" to Republicans resulted. I wonder why?
