Karen,

I don't know about covering Office 2k, but several blogs (and I) reproduced this on Word with Office for the Mac.

Look at: littlegreenfootballs.com

You may also want to 'select all' and then change the font to New Times Roman - 12pt. Thats all it takes.

John

What typeface are you using? You need to use twelve point Times New Roman to test this.

Left justification is the default setting. It's easiest to see if you do as follows:

Mouse click view

Mouse click toolbars

Mouse click formatting

Then look at the upper right of the formatting toolbar. That shows you the font and the justification.

I said office 2000 because that is what I have installed, and just using word and paintbrush (with turning off draw opaque) and cut and paste, I get an exact alignment horizontally and vertically (except my pdf copy of that memo was rotated by a miniscule amount (1 pel per 25 chars or so). What I meant was that cbs should just get an intern to see how this MS word test can be done quickly on their side.

I did not type the whole thing in, only the letterhead and first line, but the spacing and text outline match there was dead on (granted the copy I started with was very bad quality with smeared text, but the spacing and outline matching exactly!? Come on now!).

I don't know if other versions of word will generate the same WYSYWYG, but I assume it will be the same.
