"Concocted" in what sense? Did CBS knowingly forge the documents in house? No.

You mean "definitive" evidence, which is what Dan Rather demands as proof of forgery for the memos? :-) We don't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet, and won't til we know where those memos came from. We do know that 60 Minutes (meaning Dan Rather and Mary Mapes) have been working on this "story" about Bush's NG records & performance for at least 4 years and that Don Hewitt shot it down, saying there wasn't enough to support it. Then these memos showed up and used as the basis for a 60 Minutes story last week. A DNC video on the same subject just came out this week. Both projects had to have a good deal of lead time to produce, plenty of time for the memos to be authenticated, but every "expert" CBS has produced has either backed off or been shot down. Yet CBS still insists the memos are genuine and won't name the source. No internal investigation, either. Is this "proof" that CBS concocted the fraud as opposed to being too eager and unskeptical about one offered to them? No, but it makes the circumstances under which CBS (and the DNC too, don't forget) was offered just what they wanted to hear somewhat suspicious.

If CBS had been hoodwinked, they would NOT be protecting the hoodwinker.
