If CBS had been hoodwinked, they would NOT be protecting the hoodwinker.

I take your point, but I'm not sure it's that cut and dried. CBS is probably still trying to sort out the 'winker vs the 'winkee. One or more 'winkers or accessories could well be part of CBS, but it's hard to imagine that "CBS" was an active participant.
