The man who said this had previously said differently and his statements have been contradicted by people close to him. Also he has been extremely against Bush for a long time and raised more then $500,000 for Kerry.

The fact that someone is highly biased doesn't disqualify them as being a source in my opinion, but it does disqualify them from being an accepted source for arguments from authority or unsupported eye witness testimony. What he said about helping Bush get in to the guard might be true, but there is no publicly available solid information that shows it to be true.

In any case I hardly think that any body who took efforts to avoid serving in Vietnam should be barred from high elected office. If Bush did get some sort of help to get in to the Guard what makes that so signifigant now?
