The "war on Terrorism" is mostly rhetoric. As Bush said it's an un-winnable war. It has provided cover for Bush play some sort of pyscho drama and to fight his father's bogey-man in Iraq. Apparently, after 9/11 its good enough for a majority of the American populace that the US fight somebody - even if it's not the right somebodys.
