I have family in Houston. They are exactly what you think of as "Texas Republicans." On the other hand, I have a lesbian sister in Texas who thinks Molly Irvins is "right on," and is a founding member of "NOW." So I am familiar with both extremes.

Too bad we don't have our liberal academic from Texas around to help us discuss this.
