Malcolm, Thanks. Lets see how this transpires.

Here's a hedge fund touting CRTs:

Hedge fund manager and financial writer Mike Swanson has benefited from higher oil prices by purchasing oil stocks. "I bought into many oil refiners last year which have performed very well, but some of my favorite investments now are in Canadian oil royalty trusts that pay beefy dividends," he says.

I was at the San Francisco Money Show Thursday and several people mentioned energy trusts. Could be getting popular.

US investors do have about 6-8,000 listed stocks, including a bunch of ADRs. This reduces incentive to look overseas. Fairly heavy US ownership in Nokia(US holders are the largest group), JDSU, Sony, Schlumberger, PetroChina, Shell.

It helps to have a widely known brand name to catch the attention of US investors.

Rather than 'patriotic' investors, why not desribe them as lazy ? Patriotism didn't make them fat.

One of the reasons I like Canadian stocks is I can get information in English....

Best Regards, lazy and monolingual, energyplay

Malcolm just gaging by SI, iHub and Stockhouse I'd say American investor penetration is pretty strong in CRTs. It's not total American investors aferall but the ratio to us Canuckies... and they already have us 9:1 population wise.
