I did it that way while it was under development because, since this version of the site always lagged the old one by at least 300 messages (to avoid bringing over messages before their final edit), the reply count was typically wrong. In a bad way. If I brought over a message that had a reply, but the reply itself was too new, there'd be problems when clicking to view non-existent replies.

I can change it anytime now, and will soon, but it's made me wonder something. Does it matter how many replies a post has when it comes to the click/no-click decision?

I know it personally feels a little "uncomfortable" to me to see "Read replies" with no number there, and I assume it's true of others. I don't know why, though. Anyone else wanna take a crack at it?
