It's a damn expensive set of queries. I don't know what their front-end was to bring it all together, but I'll bet it's a tedious read!

You'll just do all that work for 'em, and they'll flip you the bird as they head out the door with the prize you worked so hard to give 'em.

That's one side of the coin. Then there's the other...

"...as long as we have compassion for others and conduct ourselves with restraint out of a sense of responsibility, there is no doubt we will be happy." - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama.

Your toss, your call. :-)

bit-slap

Hadn't heard that one...

...just a variant.

In regards to portfolio retrieval, there seems to be quite a negative attitude regarding free members from SI Admin Bob. I am wondering if your advertisers understand that the more free members you lose, the less there ads get looked at. They aren't viewed by paying customers as they are by low level users.

I'm leaning VERY strongly toward making portfolio retrieval available only to premium members (level 10 and up).

The fact that most of the vitriol about portfolios (despite our warning of this more than 3 months ago) is coming from free members and that the overwhelming majority of portfolios are held by free members makes me very disinclined to jump through these kinds of hoops for them.

Yeah, it may be petty, but I'm just not a big fan of having a large group of people come by and bit-slap us so severely for the loss of something they were getting for free, making no contributions at all to our community, and all this despite our best attempts to let them know in advance.

I'm starting to see your side of the coin as the more attractive one: quite irritating to read level 2 non-participants whining, one after another. Fugm.

"Most portfolios only used by the free-bees anyway..."

I am a level 10 member. I first joined in 1996. I complained bitterly - but in a polite way - over the loss of the portfolio, which IMHO makes a pay service like SiInvestor quite useless to me. I feel your message quite crude actually.
You are making a big mistake and read my lips: if you want this forum to survive you would be well advised to have a working and reasonable replacement for the old "way-too-expensive" system prior to closing down what we had.
