Good news is: the "firepower" we can, combined, throw against any endemy is never ever before known. We've got more scientists, more labs, and more means of scientists to colaborate to get fast results. And we have much much more money. I don't think -in the past- people would destroy suspitious animals like we do today. They would just keep eating them up. Add to that the means fo communications to public health authorities to inform and scare the general public and virus have very little chance to do much damage, beyond financial damage.
