CB -- Like you <<"I have NO "fire in the belly.">> I want to spend time on the beach (especially in bikini season). I do have a very high regard for my country and those protecting it. I have a deep dislike for Kerry and what he has done to damage and hurt the US and present and past GIs. I'm sure God will give him his just reward but He seems to be taking too much time. In '71 I was appalled at the things he said about me and my friends, some of whom came home with injuries that would stay with them their entire life. Some did not come home. Now I wish to see him lose this election and the truth of him follow him forever. Is it asking too much to have the opportunity to spit in his face, the same as returning vets received due to his lies in the 70s? I hope not.

Our local news covered a 100 year old woman who had never voted before to avoid conflict with her husband, a democrat. He's gone now, so she voted absentee. Her vote, of course, is a secret. But there were W 04 signs at her table.

I agree with you: The job is terrible; half of everybody hates you; a few want to kill you; you get no sleep; you get no respect; you can't really trust anybody -- who wants it?????

<I may well be one of the few who do NOT believe that I am James Carville in disguise. >

Who is James Carville? That's two of us.

Mq

PS: I could ask Google, but don't really care who he is.

<<<If I were George W. Bush, I'd be perfectly happy to go back to Crawford, Texas, and go on to the next phase of my life.>>>

Yes, that would be nice. He could spend more time rooting for the Texas Rangers. They are not that far away from winning a baseball World Series. Perhaps he could become an advisor - or consultant. Better yet, he could become Commissioner of Baseball. There has not been much leadership in baseball since Bart Giamatti died. Perhaps with Bush's strong leadership, baseball could become a more global presence - and he wouldn't have to worry about France or Germany for that matter - I don't think baseball will ever catch on over there anyhow.

Meanwhile the WOT has to be fought with more attention to detail. It is a long and difficult task. No matter what anybody thinks, we have only a finite amount of money that we can spend on WOT. We can not afford many more mistakes like getting into Iraq without a way to get out. $200 Billion (and counting) here, $200 Billion there, pretty soon that is going to add up to some real serious dollars.

Don't businesses go out of business because they invest in the wrong stuff. Doesn't that happen to countries too?

But, baseball is a protected monopoly. It can't happen to baseball.

So go tend your garden and give up on events. Nothing is stopping you.

I know several individuals that don't give it much, if any thought. They don't want to talk about the threat, they don't want to hear about the threat.....some of them say "what the F......it's not effecting me. They are completely content to go to school, go to work, have kids, play with their kids, read a romance novel, arrange picnics, sleep, eat and totally absorb themselves in their own little battles with life.

There are millions of people that don't know who James Carville is, and they don't care. Who cares about James Carville anyway? There's not a damned thing that man does the affects you or me in our daily lives. (he must have gotten to you recently?) I don't give him a second thought because he is irrelevant, just like you and me.

I sometimes wonder if those friends I mentioned might not be on to something, and I ask myself......where's the sense in worrying over it, how can I be effective? The answers are tough.....not much, not much.

"It takes a village to raise a child."

I thought that was a stupid thing to say~about the children and all. I'll raise my own thank you very much. (see how self absorbed I am) We could all succesfully argue that there aren't enough virgins to go around. Maybe that's the problem. Let's all put presure on China to lighten up and allow more female babies to live. But even that won't work. They'd just pressure us back.

So! We can move and shake, tend and sow, or play hide and seek with reality. It's a personal choice, but I think I know some of the choices you will make in the coming years.

Kudos to your Mother.
