Bill could be right, but the way the neocons are tearing down the Bill of Rights, there may not be any more elections after Dubya has his second term. The next 10 years seems to be the time to come face to face with a declining lifestyle for Americans after piling up debts, losing productive capacity, not investing in America and losing international reputation. LBJ proved that guns and butter don't coexist, and Dubya is proving that guns and corporate corruption don't work too well together, either. Then, again, perhaps we can all become pro gamblers who just leech off the wealth of other, more productive countries. I'm willing to give it a try. Anyone want to play Old Maid for cash? <G>

>>>Fleckenstein's theory is that whichever party has the misfortune to hold the White House during the next term won't have that privilege again for two decades, so the re-election of El Chimpo Stupido wouldn't be a total disaster.<<<

I have not seen the column where he says that, but I had started thinking the same thing. I think things might go downhill so badly that there might be another impeachment move, though I don't think it would succeed. But Nixon came into office a second time with a huge majority --one of the largest ever-- and only a couple of years later he had to resign.

So your prayer is that the (note the small 't') United States be conquered and occupied?
