McCain Speaks Up

Sen. John McCain -- who has publicly endorsed Bush and even appealed for donations to the President's campaign -- came to Kerry's defense on this. McCain didn't witness the events in question, of course. But he told the Associated Press in an August 5 interview:

McCain : I think the ad is dishonest and dishonorable. As it is none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded. Many of his crewmates have testified to his courage under fire. I think John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam.

"Swift Boat Veterans For Truth" is a Republican funded 527 lie factory -- the lawyer representing this group was also the top lawyer for the Bush / Cheney Campaign...hmmm...how convenient.

VietNam was a painful war over 30 years ago...Kerry won medals. Your guy didn't, because he didn't go. There's no room for spin here.

Thankfully, John McCain's sense of honor and ethics hasn't been totally beaten out of him by Karl Rove just yet.

"Arguments about the war in Vietnam seem destined to continue forever. For now, however, the lingering bitterness and ambiguity of those days provide smear material against an antiwar war hero with five medals on behalf of a privileged Guardsman with a dubious duty record. The president's Texas allies -- whose animus against his Democratic challenger dates back to the Nixon era -- are now deploying the same techniques and personnel they used to attack McCain's integrity four years ago. Bush's 'independent' supporters would apparently rather talk about the Vietnam quagmire than about his deadly incompetence in Iraq."

It is my understanding that none of these so called..
'swiftmates' actually served with Kerry on his boat..
when he was in charge.
My best friend served on the Turner Joy..
(Gulf of Tonkin "incident")..
when he uses the term..'shipmates'
he uses it in context of men
who he Actually served on board with...
