OK, this one is directed to you since you asked the questions.

>>> Why do you think we went to war in Iraq? <<<

Economics. To protect our economic freedom.

Since the end of WWll, every barrel of oil in the world was bought with US currency. Sadamn started taking nothing but the Euro for his oil. Other countries were lining up to do the same. That would have destroyed our economy. One of the first things we did when we ousted Sadamn was to see that Iraqi oil was paid for with US currency.

For those who don't want to face the realities that wars are fought for political and economic gains, we can always fall back on the fact that Iraq was financing a lot of the terrorist activity around the world. Take out the financial center of gravity and you're on your way to victory if you can follow through and finish the job.

Our military doesn't lack the courage to fight and win, our civilian population does.

I'm a firm believer in the concept that you don't undermine the leadership while the troops are fighting. We should unite and form a unified chain of command. When the fighting is over, then you can hang some dumb ass politician or other screwup but, not until the fighting is over.

One of the tactics of those who oppose us is to wear down the civilian population. Make them whine and bitch about loss of life, cost of the war or how the war is being fought. Undermine the leadership and the enemy wins.

>>> dabum3, are you saying that 9/11 was planned and carried out by Iraq? <<<

Nope, but they were financing a lot of terrorism that was going on in the world. That and going to the euro for their oil was enough for us to protect our interests.

Here is the interesting article I referred to, which looks at our Defense Department and what changes might be made for the future:
