I haven't any idea. My sense is that Bush could have won it tonight but didn't. Kerry probably helped himself all he could, but we'll have to see whether it is enough.

This has been my concern since the campaign began -- if Kerry got the nomination, I knew damned well he could lay it on thick and Bush couldn't compete in debates against him. I think tonight proved that to be true.

Kerry is a worse liar and waffler than even Clinton. I certainly hate to entertain the idea he might actually get elected. I cannot conceive of a greater disaster for this nation.

Amy J,

We need to see some election polls here. How long will it take for polls on the election to be released in the news?

It will probably be about 5 days before the polls are out. They usually take them over 3 days, and the earliest they can start is tomorrow. So Monday afternoon is probably earliest to see the poll results. There are also daily tracking polls, which may show some changes before then.

The most importnat polls, the state polls will be the slowest to come out.

Joe

Am wondering what the polls will say regarding elections.

Are the debates enough to influence the elections?

I'm hoping they are. You are probably hoping they aren't, which is understandable.

But both of us are probably keenly wondering how much the debates will impact the election polls.

Amy, I wouldn't get too excited. There are two more debates after this one and then there is the Edwards/Cheney debate. And its never been clear that debates decide the election.
