i could care less about charts too... i do miss my portfolio. i would refer to it once daily for quick recap of the day.,
quotes were great when going through messages and other threads to quickly check on a market price. i may if interested in reviewing a sale or purchase quickly refer to portfolio to see where some holdings stand and alternatives to free up cash for a purchase.

I find myself jumping back and forth to clearstation or yahoo more frequently.. clearstation was a site i kept a portfolio at for years but seldom ever use as si consumed majority of my time.

i accepted si dave that there was no chance that portfolio would return.. although i am grandfathered i feel it is a big loss to si readers. why chase us to other sites. This seems to defeat the purpose of best message site and now seems to be average. There is more to investors than messages.

Portfolios on the new SI..

I'd like to echo my agreement with Biomaven regarding getting the portfolio feature back..as a novice investor, I find them quite helpful on the biothreads for the same reasons Biomaven described..

Thanks for considering our suggestions as I imagine you are quite busy getting this new platform working.

I paid good money to join SI. The main attraction was the quality of the discourse in the Biotech area, in particular the "Sector" discussion threads (e.g. VD's model portfolio), which are so much better than the hogwash that permeates many threads dedicated to one stock on other sites.
Portfolio's provide a starting agenda for such discussions, and make for a much more informative and interesting experience.
Although I am not currently an active biotech investor, I wish to second Biomaven's assessment of the importance of portfolios, including his point about end-of-day prices being good enough.
Yours from the sidelines

In lieu of a true portfolio (with positions, cost basis, etc.), how about the ability to have a watch list with basic delayed quotes. Perhaps limited to 5-10 quotes per thread, only viewable by level 10+ users, only available on threads in the investment forums?

If that's would be beneficial, I'll take a look at it.
