CB, great response and post!! The Core and the Gap are certainly outlined well in the Bright Lights picture....and now that you mention it, it is the best and easiest description of the current situation we, and the world, find ourselves in.....

We don't have to worry (much) about the areas on the map that are lit up. The terrorists live in the dark spots.

Honestly, compared to other wars, we have not spent very much in terms of manpower or military ordinance or financial commitment.

I asked you this before and never got an answer - how many American troops are worth how many Iraqi children?

American troops are really American children - many of whom are not much older than the Iraqi children they are asked to save.

Why are Iraqi children more important than children in Iran, Syria, North Korea, Yemen, and in large parts of Africa?

If Iraq is the model, don't we also have to go into all these countries?

And, what about all those other countries that harbor terrorists or where terrorist hide out (eg Pakistan, Indonesia, the Philipines, Thailand, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, and many of the states formerly in the Soviet Union)?

All of this is an honest difference of opinion between people like you and me. We all want what is best for all of us - only we may not be able to figure out the best solution).

However, there are a lot of people on your side and also on my side that are not sincere - they are using us for their own devious reasons (IMO devious, evil, and stupid are all pretty much the same things).
