Why would we want to join an organization that is corrupt at the roots? We bash the UN becasue like many institutions it was made to address the problems of the decade in which it was born.

The UN may be good at addresses inter-national conflict. (It has not proven effective lately.) It is terrible about intra-national conflict. The UN passed resolutions condemning Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Bosnia, Sudan, etc. The UN has not solved any of these problems.

Things that remain static become obsolete.
