Thanks for asking to clarify the bolded part of my post which you quoted. Oriental philosophy talks aboout lying and when is it OK to lie and when it is not OK to do so. It has nothing to do with Kerry. What I mentioned is in line with the Oriental philosophy.

To elaborate, if you are standing at a fork in the road, and you see some gang members chasing a person with a gun with an intent to kill him. YOu witness the fleeing person take the fork in the road. When those folks with the gun come upto you to find out which fork that person took, are you going to tell the truth or are you going to lie to protect that fleeing person's life?

There were similar scenarios during WWII where the Nazi troops were hunting down the Jews. These Jews sought refuge in basements and when the Nazi troops knocked on doors, the owners lied tereby saving innocent Jewish lies.

To say a kie is bad no matter what, is a sign of religious fanaticism, IMO. There are many on SI who are such religious fanatics.
