How does the observation apply in the context of
political rhetoric?

For example, you're a Kerry supporter.
You think Kerry should win.
You also seem to think that his winning
is vital for the vitality and safety of the U.S.

If so, are lies in support of the Kerry campaign
justified or not, whether based on oriental philosophy,
situational ethics or whatever else you want to call it?

That's the part of your point that eludes me.

If you are just saying it's not morally reprehensible
to lie to a crook or murderer, I doubt many would disagree
with you, including me.
