I tried to stay objective throughout and came up with these thoughts:

Cheney's demeanor was great. He was like the sympathetic grandfather who has all this wisdom and patronizing in the way he delivers his "I really care about you" message as well as we are doing the right thing. So, I tried to divorce myself from being for Edwards and stay neutral.I felt that had I not been informed better Cheney might have convinced me all was going well with the war. The elections are in place.. Afganistan is going to have elections.. We have not spent that much for the war.. and so on.

Then switching to the candidate I am for I held my breath.I was taken back by the accusation by Cheney that he had missed so many meetings in the Senate. THat was never addressed but being the person I am who takes obligations seriously I thought this was a wound for Edwards...And I wish he had corrected this were it to be untrue.

There was avoidance of direct responding to the questions of the moderators on both parts.. It was like going around robin hood's barn to get to the door.

When it was over I thought Kerry did well but I also thought it might be a toss up and I will have to wait until today to see what the concensus of opinions were as well as pollsters.

I see by this thread that almost everyone thought Edwards won the debate. That makes me feel better. If left to my own devices I don't know that I would think tweedle dum and tweedle dee..... Toss up.
