Its better for a country to have more than one key city. It leads to an exchange of ideas, competition and allows other parts of the country to join in the prosperity. Plus, Seoul is becoming badly polluted and overcrowded. Have you ever been to Seoul? It's very beautiful. A lot nicer than New York City, I have to say. Personally, its sounds like LA....big, noisy and polluted. "Encircled by high mountains, Seoul has topographical conditions susceptible to lingering air pollutants. The City of Seoul has been taking various measures to reduce air pollution: expansion of clean fuel supply, mandatory installation of car exhaust filtration devices, implementation of sulfur dioxide control measures, and the operation of environment vigilante. As a result, the amount of air pollution in Seoul in 1999 was lower than the WHO-recommended standard. With the rapid increase of vehicles since the late 1980s, however, major pollutants in Seoul' s air have been gradually changing from sulfur dioxide (SO2) to nitrogen oxide (NOx) and Ozone (O3)."english.seoul.go.kr By the way, other parts of the country are indeed joining in the prosperity. Cities like Daegu, Ulsan, Gyeong-ju, and Busan are bustling metropolises themselves. And even the countryside is rather modern. Get this: Cell phone coverage is everywhere, even in remote mountain areas ("remote" being a relative term for the crowded nation). Busan is the second city with a population of 3.7 million. Seoul has over 15 million. Sounds like Seoul is very dominate. BTW what part of Korea is your family from originally? ted
