Topol will now profit from the consulations, expert witness requests, interviews, lectures, etc, etc...imo, there was much self-interest and less public health interest in his editorial today..

To Topol's credit was his statement during his CNBC interview that he will absolutely not participate in any class action suits despite numerous requests to do so.

One of Nissen/Topol was interviewed on CNBC during the past week. I forget which. When asked if he had been approached by the Class Action vultures, he responded, "Yes, but I'd never have anything to do with these vermin". [My paraphrasing, definitely not an exact quote<g>.]

<<but imo, that's what couragious and principled medical behavior is about... Topol will now profit from the consulations, expert witness requests, interviews, lectures, etc, etc...imo, there was much self-interest and less public health interest in his editorial today..>>

There is no doubt that Topol is well positioned to get paid in a big way through litigation work. But the bottom line is that he was in a group raising concerns about the drug several years ago. You can claim he should have thrown himself in front of the Merck marketing train, but that is easier said than done.
