Hi Karen,
Anyone who fights terrorists whether it is the US, Russia, Israel or Iraq is accused by these folks of brutality and murder as per the last post to you. Brutality is what the terrorists want to further mobilize the population but lack of response is worse for us. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. Israel has proved that you can control it. Russia and the US have not. Israel did it without mercy. Apart from all the mideast issues which folks of good will argue about, if i were and israeli grandad I would be much happier with less terror than more and would scoff at those who told me it would be better to give peace a chance sans a workable plan if it meant renewed terror. You are on the right track but it is still a mixed bag and bloody. mike

I've post several items on Chechnya. While I don't necessarily expect that you've seen them. I'm tired of posting the information. Google is there if you care.

We can't tell Putin what to do,

Right there you don't care. If there comes a time when the US wants to remove Putin, then we'll "care".

The Chechens seem to be front and center on the terrorist line themselves.

And the Russian Army has managed to kill/displace 50% of the Chechen population [1.1 million]; their own people; 35,000 starving in Grozny. I'm not surprised that they have turned to terrorism.

Sudan official to U.S.: Send troops to Darfur

Sudan's ambassador to the United Nations is challenging the United States to send its troops to Darfur, if it thinks genocide is occurring in the region.

Elfatih Mohamed Erwa made the challenge on Tuesday, including both the U.S. Congress and the Bush administration in his invitation.

"If it is really a genocide, they should be committed to send troops," Erwa said of the conflict in Sudan's western region, where tens of thousands have been killed and raped in recent months as Arab militias allegedly backed by the government raided villages occupied by non-Arab ethnic Africans....

"It's a curious idea, but I don't think it has a future," John Danforth, the American ambassador to the UN, said Wednesday in reply to Erwa's statement.
