its okay for average citizens to question the capabilities of a policician running for office - even if it is that of the President of the United States

I do agree with you. But Clinton (even Nixon) critics are very different comparisons to W's critic. Notice that of Clinton's detractors --- there are rational and irrational ones.

But you are insinuating that someone who did not have a sense of purpose before he was 40, who nevertheless graduated from Yale, got his MBA from Harvard, can fly a jet plane, is an idiot --- that would be an even bigger insult to the people in the US who cannot fly a jet plane, did not get a graduate degree, did not graduate from college.

Electing a president is not like finding the best research scientist. The qualities required are very different. And even if you feel that Gore should have won, the facts are, both Gore and Bush were judged by the system in 2000 to be the two foremost candidates of the US.

Neither Gore nor Bush are failed human beings, you and I may disagree with their views or politics, but to question either's basic intellect and capabilities is downright nasty, mean and moves us to the irrational wacko anarchist side of the discussion.

Frankly, I don't like what Kerry did in the vietnam days, I disagree with almost all his views, policies and voting record, I find his pandering for votes unhealthy and opportunistic, but I would not call him an idiot and I have no doubt he is an intelligent person and a very capable politician.

>>People from the right used to accuse Clinton of having something to do with murder with regards to Vince Foster and other White Water characters.

And people from the left accuse Bush of sending a missile into the Pentagon and unmanned aircraft into the World Trade Center.

We call people like that fruitcakes.
