glenn, i was actually thinking more along the lines of the scientists in the peak-oil debate. for the most part they have steered away from excessive theorizing about geopolitical conspiracies, as i think they should. the peak-oil debate should rest on its own merits. in my opinion, even Heinberg and Darley have done a much better job than Ruppert in terms of isolating peak oil from politics.

this is not to say that there are no geopolitical ramifications to peak oil; far from it. but it's a separate kettle of fish imo. first and foremost is to ascertain if & when peak oil becomes a mainstream issue. once this is a mainstream reality, it doesn't take a genius to realize all sorts of geopolitical caca is going to hit the fan.
