Right. Michael is like John Nash, because he can't quite grok your particular "facts and logic". Compare:

Reason 2. This general was wrong about the need for 300,000 troops. Wrong certainly about the number of troops to DEFEAT Saddam; wrong also IMHO about the number needed to occupy the country. ( techstocks.com )

to the relatively extensive discussion quoted in techstocks.com , and then maybe you can explain how I'm like John Nash too.

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE MR SPOCK, THAT YOU ARE RIGHT AND I AM WRONG, AND THAT'S THE "STRAIGHT LINE" CALCULATION?

I believe that I'm capable of reason, of taking the available facts whether they fit my expectations or not and seeing them for what they are.

Given the death and destruction in Iraq, I would only be too happy to learn that it truly was all worthwhile, for then it would have purpose.

Sadly, the facts show otherwise.

I don't have to believe a single person's word; there are huge amounts of data - not opinion - coming to the forefront here, including data from the governement itself. When the CIA tells me that Saddam was toothless but Bush tells me he was not, I am going to go with the CIA's version since it was based on fact, Bush's version based on conjecture, fanciful thinking and because he has no alternative but to perpetuate the lie he started.

Them's the facts.

Bruce: It is madness. The process of reason is all about ego. It is hilarious to watch the madness grow on these boards as people attempt to justify their egos. The ultimate example of delusional reasoning takes place on the technical anaysis boards. Some of the people on those boards really believe that charts are a way of picking stocks. In some cases (if not many), those people do not even look at the financial statements of the companies they are buying.

It is interesting to read today's headlines about Iraq rewarding al Sadr's fighters to turn in their weapons. I hope the Iraqi revlution is coming to and end as the leaders of the uprisings are rewarded with new political office. Interesting way to get yourself elected.
