The incest issue and rape issues are non-starters for me. The child who is the product of such tragic conceptions is innocent, and does not deserve the death penalty.

"Saving the life of the mother" is meaningless when doctors will simply certify that the mother says she would commit suicide unless she has an abortion. That's the way they used to get around it.

I don't see the calculus of morality as relative -- how do you calculate the worth of an aborted child vs. preserving snail darters?

very interesting.. he is willing to swap his values for various other values.. he will accept thousands of abortions rather than try to make a stand in the church and tell those who support killing it is ok because you support health care, the environment. I find this guy like many college profs very liberal in his thinking. He should be out there and take a stand on abortion and stop it. then go on to the next closest value he is unwilling to give up... it seems for a Catholic priest to accept thousands and thousands of abortions as the lesser of values is a sick person.

I believe you just found out a lot of priests in the church no longer have the respect of their parish. this paper is a great example of why not to follow him. Notra dame should think of removing him but then notra dame has larger problems. didn't they try to get some really wild strange guy from Europe to join their liberal arts college only the others profs went up in arms against it.

You might find this op ed piece by the dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame interesting.

Pure nonsense.

Everytime John and little John give a speech they talk about who they are going to kill.
