Peter- there are ways to lower the cost and help those that cannot afford it. PA uses the lottery funds to pay the meds for the elderly low income people in the state. They have a $9 co-pay but now the new medicare card covers $600 per year of co-pays. PA has been doing that for years.
Surely there are methods to bring down costs without stopping research. Asking Canada and others to foot part of the bill sounds logical..
