All of you who think that Bush manufactured all of this, or that it was all made up by a cabal of Neoconservatives, simply don't know what you are talking about.

No one reasonably argues that Saddam Husayn wasn't a threat or a threatening figure.

No, what that article does is underscore that sensible caution was a feature of a Democrat-led government, which, according to Bush spin meisters, is impossible.

The article also underscores that diplomatic threats backed up by occasional demonstrations of superior force were an effective method of containment.

My assertion stands: sanctions and inspecitions would continue against Iraq in a post 9/11 world. There would be support from Congress, on both sides; as well as support from the international community.
