Probably true. Also not very relevant to the war that I was talking about. We were not the invaders in Vietnam.

This is the problem we face in Iraq

To an extent this is true. Some Iraqis do see us as invaders/occupiers/conquerors. The fact that we didn't invade to conquer doesn't change this perception.
