Election 2004 - Poll favors Bush education plan Mercury Staff Reporter Pottstown, PA A whopping 71.1 percent of the votes cast in this week's presidential poll question favored the educational initiatives of Republican incumbent, George W. Bush. Responding to the question - "Which candidate has the best plan for educating the nation's youth?" - only 28.9 percent of the votes went to Democratic challenger John F. Kerry. Kevin Krebs of Pottstown, submitted comments on The Mercury Web site regarding the article which explored the education issue and, like the vote tally, he favored Bush's plan. Here's some of what he had to say: "George W. Bush's plan seems to be a sensible plan. It gives schools the helping hand they need to meet the standards of 'No Child Left Behind,'" he wrote. "John Kerry's plan starts by a huge tax increase. While all the things he stated would be nice to implement, I believe that the $200 billion tax increase wouldn't be enough," wrote Krebs. "The 'service for college' idea alone would likely cost well in excess of $200 billion. He talks about a $4,000 tax credit for young people paying their own way and an $800 tax cut for family's with child care needs," Krebs wrote. "He paints a rosy picture, but doesn't explain how he's going to fund all his programs," Krebs wrote.

What I would really like to know, is why the democrats have specifically made an issue of Cheney's daughter? I would really like to understand what the thought process was behind the decesion to talk about the sexual preference of Cheney's daughter? I cannot think of any circumstance why this would gain votes for the democrats. This was a very negative message and for the life of me, why did they take this approach? Very flawed thinking by the democrats advisory staff. It has the thumbprint of Terry McAuliff. What hateful, mean spirited people. Jim
