Say, have you ever thought of this? Ever since the Clinton days, trial attorneys have a lot of clout in the DNC. The tobacco trial mega-billion judgments for example, while a positive development to discourage smoking, have made many democrats and Clinton supporters very very rich.

This is why instead of supporting true tort reform to cap damages, the democrats will not support a cap, and instead play smoke and mirrors with some review committee staffed by, here's the punch line, other lawyers.

I'd be curious to see what happens if instead of a cap on the damages, the republicans instead propose a cap 100K/yr for each suit on the legal fees portion collectable by the trial lawyer, that would be a good litmus test to see what the true motives are for opposing a cap.

CB, Thx for the info. Of course, Kerry continues to blame the Pres for the vaccine shortage. He's probably tempted to blame GW for the Red Sox losses as well. I hope Bush's election win spread resembles last night's Yankee/Red Sox score: Yankees 19 vs Boston 8 <g>
