I think the neo-cons wanted this war so much that they would have probably found some other reason to go into Iraq.


That's right.........we are seeing a clear example of this approach right now. When there were no WMDs nor al Qa'ida links and therefore no threats to the US, suddenly the emphasis was placed on Saddam, the bad guy......the world is a better place with him gone. And when that wasn't good enough......eventually the sanctions would have been dropped and Saddam would have rebuilt his WMDs. And when that wasn't good enough..........better to draw all the terrorists to Iraq and fight it out there.
