Mary, You issue pat answers without dealing with the nuance - I guess you are a Republican (using your own definition :-) My brother was born at 7 months - and a lot of liberals fight to protect late term abortions. What I cannot reconcile is aborting (ie killing) viable babies. Now if a 3rd trimester baby is viable where is the line between abortion and murder? In many eastern cultures infanticide is still practiced - so do we become multicultural and allow mothers to kill babies and if so to what age? On the 'marriage' issue you totally dodge the polygamy issue. Who exactly are you - to ignore the rights of groups over couples! And on the issue of Pat Roberston, you brought religion into this discussion - I was discussing medical ethics. Now try and answer a specific - Research on papers of Dr Mengele discover he had found a cure for disease X while experimenting on humans at Auschwitz. Do you use the research or burn it? This was a real discussion in my wifes medical ethics class back in Med school. No religion involved. John
