The only reason Kerry didn't get his extra deferrments, like Cheney, is that DEMOCRAT President LBJ escalated the war in 1967. Prior to then, educational and hardship deferments were standard practice and easily obtained.

Of course, Kerry figured he could avoid Nam by joining the reserves. But even he didn't expect LBJ to escalate so much that he had to activate the reserves. But he did.

Too bad Kerry wasn't born two years earlier, eh?
