Yes I am well aware of the perils of tech stocks, that's why I avoid them. 1% of portfolio in tech is not much risk <g>. MRK and other mature pharmas are not exactly tech. One difference is that they have been paying hefty dividends for a long time. But I agree with you the times are not ripe of tech or pharma investments, given the looming competition from Asia and the perils of an increasingly litigious world.
