Jan-Sep ethanol exports surpass 2002, 2003 combined

São Paulo, 08 - Brazil´s January to September ethanol exports totaled a record $379 million, up 16% on the $327 million of 2003 and 2002 combined, the country´s Agriculture Ministry announced Friday evening.

In terms of volume shipped Jan-Sep the figure was 1.5 million tonnes, which was also higher than the combined figure of 1.21 million tonnes of 2002 and 2003.

Compared with 2003 alone there was a 300% increase Jan-Sep 2004, which has resulted in caution on the world sugar/ethanol market.

Brazilian ethanol exports is one of the issues that was most discussed at the Sugar Dinner in London.

The market fears that the local sugar/ethanol sector will end up producing more fuel alcohol to meet the demands of exports and the domestic market and cut sugar production.

This reduction would take place in a year in which a world sugar deficit is expected, which could take global prices of the commodity into two digits.

EP:
Perhaps we shouod look to sugar as a reaction to ethanol in case oil keeps up!

dangerous," "unsanctioned" and "unsupervised" sex and booze trip to Canada, planned for March.

It's kind of Mt. Helens behave lately. You know, if there's a valve the pressure scapes slowly and it never goes kaboom!

Now if the system is kept air-tight it is always trying to find a gap to let the pressure go. Then it comes this trip to Montreal... You can just picture what is going to happen.
